Melville House Newport

Frank was very gracious and welcoming. Very nice staff. It only took 5 minutes to walk to center of town. This house made me feel like I was back in time. Very charming. Enjoyed my stay. Thank you, Frank!

We actually stayed at the Wyncott house not Melville. Great location to walk all over Newport. Rick, the proprietor, was very accommodating. The room was lovely cozy and reasonably priced. We will definitely stay again as our son is studying at the Navel War College in town .

The property management company owns several historical homes on this lovely and quaint street. We had reserved a small room in the Melville house but when we arrived they offered to upgrade us to a larger room if we checked in alittle later, which we did. The room they offered was in another of their homes on the street and it was absolutely beautiful. Large king size bed and a bathroom with two vanity sinks. They were thoughtful to offer a black colored "Make-Up" towel for those who need one. My husband and I had to leave at 6am the next morning and the guest keeper, a gentlemen whom I did not get his name, greeted us with hot and fresh coffee at 6am. How wonderful is that. We filled our thermos and slipped out quietly to not wake up the other guests. The parking was located behind the building and our car was easily accessible. We are definitely coming back next year. This is a lovely establishment, comfortable, good size room, frette linens and towels. great shower, and ac. complimentary continental breakfast and delicious (paid) breakfast available upon request. The property is centrally located to restaurants, bars and shops all within walking distance. innkeeper Rick is very accommodating and helpful. We will go back.

Close to Thames street and easy walk to lots of shopping/food. Bed was comfy in our room. We were on the second floor, bringing luggage in and out was easy. Cool spot in an old house!
